Sordo retires with two stages to go
Citroen's hopes of a one-two-three finish in Turkey have been dashed after Dani Sordo retired with just two stages to go
The French manufacturer had been set for a podium sweep following Ford rival Mikko Hirvonen's error this morning. With the Finn dropping to fourth, factory Citroen drivers Sebastien Loeb and Sordo sandwiched C4-driving independent Petter Solberg going into the final loop.
But Hirvonen is now back up to third after Sordo came to a halt on SS21. Following crews reported that his car had stopped on the edge of the stage, although the reason for his retirement is not yet clear.
Citroen still fills four of the top five positions, with Citroen Junior drivers Sebastien Ogier and Kimi Raikkonen now fourth and fifth.
Loeb looks certain of victory - his margin over Solberg now up to 28.9 seconds after the Norwegian had a brief trip off the road on the extremely muddy Deniz stage while mounting a final push to challenge for the lead.
