WRC calendar decision delayed

No decision on the 2011 World Rally Championship calendar is expected until the middle of next week, after the World Motor Sport Council's fax vote was delayed until Monday

Today was earmarked for the decision, but that has been postponed until after the Rally of Turkey, which is running at the moment.

WRC Commission president Morrie Chandler said: "The calendar draft is prepared, but I believe it will go to WMSC on Monday for a fax vote. A couple of days, in all honesty, makes little difference. My view is that there won't be a decision until Monday."

AUTOSPORT has already revealed what's widely reckoned to be the 14-event schedule for next season.

Asked about the number of rallies, Chandler said: "If you talk to the teams last year, they said they wanted 12. They grizzled a little bit when they ended up with 13 this season, but they said they'd put up with it. Then, I understand the teams agreed to the 15-round calendar we saw a few weeks ago. But I think 14 or 15 rallies is right."
