Glew gets BTCC seat with Triple 8

Phil Glew will step up to the British Touring Car Championship with Triple 8 Engineering this season

The Renault Clio Cup champion will race an ex-works Vauxhall Vectra for Ian Harrison's squad, which has won six drivers' titles in the last decade.

"It's amazing to finally have this deal sorted, and with such a great team too," Glew told AUTOSPORT. "It's been a mad rush to get it all sorted with the team and sponsors, but now it's done I'm really excited and raring to go.

"I've not driven the car since I tested at Rockingham a few weeks ago and I was really hoping to have everything sorted for the media day at Brands Hatch, but it didn't quite come together in time."

Glew will make his BTCC debut at the Thruxton season-opener on April 4, but has not set himself any targets in terms of results.

"I'm on a very steep learning curve, but I've just got to use the first round as a learning exercise and try and build on it from there."

Triple 8 has yet to announce a team-mate for Glew for the upcoming season.
