Leo quickest at end of FR3.5 test

Improving Italian Federico Leo had the honour of claiming the fastest time at close of play in the opening Formula Renault 3.5 collective test of the season at Barcelona

Pons Racing's returnee Leo recorded a best lap of 1m33.715s to edge out British Formula 3 champion Daniel Ricciardo (Tech 1) by 0.019s.

Following the poor weather that disrupted this morning's running, the Circuit de Catalunya dried out and saw a tightly contested order. Just 0.087s covered the first four drivers in this afternoon's classification.

Junior Lotus Racing diver Daniil Move, Carlin's Jake Rosenzweig and Comtec's Greg Mansell had spells at the top of the timesheets before Ricciardo and Leo hit the front with a little over a quarter of the four-hour session remaining.

Rookie Nathanael Berthon ended the afternoon one spot higher than his morning position in third, the Draco driver shading Ricciardo's Red Bull Junior comrade Jean-Eric Vergne.

Fortec Motorsport's Sten Pentus and Daniil Move completed the top six. The next scheduled collective test will take place at Jerez on 13-14 March.
