Viso closing in on KV drive
EJ Viso is closing on a deal to join KV Racing for the 2010 IndyCar Series after testing for the team at Sebring yesterday
The Venezuelan set a best time of 53.89s during his 103-lap run, and KV general manager Mark Johnson said the team was likely to use Viso again in the pre-season group test at Barber Motorsports Park later this month.
"At this point, we will sit down with EJ and discuss further plans for the 2010 IndyCar Series season," said Johnson. "I do anticipate testing him again at the IndyCar Series Open Test at Barber next week."
Viso spent the first two years of his IndyCar career with HVM, taking fourth place in St Petersburg in only his second start, but parting with the team after a luckless 2009 campaign.
"This is a very professional team, a great group of engineers and mechanics," said the 24-year-old. "I felt very positive and comfortable working with them. I look forward to sitting down with [KV co-owner] Jimmy [Vasser] and Mark to determine what our future together will be."
KV was a regular top ten contender last season, with primary driver Mario Moraes taking third at Chicagoland. Paul Tracy also joined the team for a limited programme, and it took fourth place at the Indianapolis 500 with one-off third driver Townsend Bell.
