Smith joins Rebellion for Le Mans

The 35-year-old Briton won for Bentley in 2003 and will be competing at Le Mans for the seventh time.

He will partner Jean-Christophe Boullion and Andrea Belicchi in and LMP1 Lola B10/60, powered by a Rebellion V10 engine.

"I'm very excited to be joining Rebellion for Le Mans," said Smith. "The team showed a lot of class last season with strong showings at Le Mans and in the LMS, marking itself out as one of the most exciting and ambitious teams in sportscar racing today."

Rebellion was formerly known as Speedy Racing Team Sebah. Its Lola was fifth in the LMS standings last year and ran well at Le Mans for much of the race before finishing 14th.

Smith believes the car can challenge for a top five finish this year.

"I genuinely believe the Lola chassis and Rebellion engine package will allow us to push the factory manufacturer teams hard for a top-five showing at Le Mans," he said.

Smith, who will also drive a Dyson Racing Lola-Mazda in the American Le Mans Series this year, will test the Rebellion car for the first time at Paul Ricard on March 7-8 and make his race debut in opening round of the LMS at the French circuit on April 11.
