Dumbreck seals GT1 deal
Peter Dumbreck will race for the new Sumo Power Nissan team in the new FIA GT1 World Championship this season
AUTOSPORT magazine revealed this week that the former DTM and Super GT racer has signed to drive one of the British squad's two Nissan GT-Rs in the 10-round series.
The 36-year-old Scot will share Sumo's lead entry with Nissan factory driver Michael Krumm, who raced for Gigawave in last year's FIA GT1 championship.
Dumbreck sat out most of 2009 after losing his Super GT seat with the Kraft Lexus squad. He described his new deal with Sumo as his "ideal drive".
"Super GT is a great championship and is massive in Japan, but no one knows what is going on in Europe," said Dumbreck.
"This drive is perfect for my career because I'll be racing on the world stage."
Drivers for Sumo's second entry have yet to be announced, while fellow GT-R squad Swiss Racing Team has already finalised three of its four drivers for 2010.
Former grand prix racer and FIA GT ace Karl Wendlinger will pair with 2007 European GT3 champion Henri Moser, while Swedish racer Max Nilsson will race the team's second car with a yet-to-be-announced team-mate.
