Primat makes rally debut in Sweden
Harold Primat made his competitive rallying debut in Sweden last weekend
The works Aston Martin sportscar racer drove a Group N Subaru Impreza in the single-day snow and ice Z-Trofen event in the north of the country.
He was co-driven by Kenneth Eriksson's former co-driver Staffan Parmander.
Primat enjoyed his rallying debut, which included a second-in-class finish on the final stage.
"It was a great experience for me and I learned a lot," he said. "I've always had an interest in rallying and the event was good for my fitness and to keep me race sharp. As the stages are so long it helps with your endurance because you have to keep your concentration non-stop.
"When you drive at 160kmh in the snow, with a snow bank on either side, it's an amazing experience and great for your reflexes. You have to put a lot of faith in your co-driver. It's a real skill to focus on your driving while listening to pace notes."
Parmander was impressed by Primat's performance, considering it was his competitive debut in rallying.
"The biggest challenge was to get to the finish because conditions were very difficult and it was Harold's first experience of this type of event," he said.
"I thought he did a great job and should be proud of what is a major achievement. He did exactly what I wanted him to do, which was to start sensibly and then get quicker as he went along."
Primat will being his sportscar season with Aston Martin at the Sebring 12 Hours next month.
