De Silvestro tests for HVM

HVM Racing is to test Atlantic Championship frontrunner Simona de Silvestro at Sebring with a view to bringing the Swiss driver into the IndyCar Series

De Silvestro will drive for the team at the Florida track today and tomorrow, in a test run in collaboration with her Atlantic team Stargate Worlds.

HVM boss Keith Wiggins said the squad was interested in a partnership with both Stargate Worlds and 21-year-old de Silvestro if the test went well.

"Simona has been impressive in Atlantics and could certainly have a future in IndyCar," said Wiggins. "This trip to Sebring is going to be sort of a litmus test to see if there's potential for future collaboration with her and Team Stargate Worlds."

De Silvestro looked set to claim the Atlantic title in her third season in the series this year. She arrived at the finale needing just a second place to become champion, but a collision in the Laguna Seca race dropped her to third in the standings and allowed John Edwards to snatch the title.

HVM already has a deal in place with Robert Doornbos for the 2010 IndyCar season, but is looking at options for its second car with EJ Viso having indicated his intention to move elsewhere after two years with the team.
