Loeb: Sordo can win next season

Sebastien Loeb has tipped his Citroen team-mate Dani Sordo as a potential World Rally Championship challenger for next season

Sordo signed a one-year extension to his Citroen contract just days before the start of last week's Catalunya Rally and Loeb says the Spaniard will be a threat on all surfaces next season.

Loeb said: "Dani is a very good team-mate. With the possible exception of Mikko [Hirvonen], Dani is the best team-mate I can have. He has definitely improved and got quicker since last year.

"Look at Finland, he was very fast there. He has been impressive through the year - he can win next season."

Sordo admitted he was pleased to remain with the factory team, where he has driven for the last three years.

He added: "It's a one-year deal with an option at the end of the season. It's the same deal as before; okay, it's less money than before, but this is normal with the economy how it is.

"I'm happy to still be with the team for another year, I know them all and it works well. I've learned more again this season and I've got more confidence for the future. I think next year can be better again and, of course, I will be aiming to win rallies."

On Sordo's threat across the spread of the season, Loeb added: "It's no surprise to see how fast Dani was in Catalunya; on asphalt, we know that and next year there are four asphalt rallies, so it can be good for him.

"But it's no longer just asphalt, Dani can be fast everywhere. He will be a threat."
