Webber among GP3 team entrants

The MW Arden operation is among the 10 teams that have received entries for the inaugural GP3 championship, which joins parent category GP2 on the F1 support bill in 2010.

GP2 squads ART and Addax are to add GP3 arms, as will leading Formula 3 outfits Carlin, Hitech and Mucke, and F3 squad turned new F1 entrant Manor.

Swiss team Jenzer, Formula Renault 3.5 frontrunner Tech 1 and Status - the outfit behind Team Ireland which won this year's A1GP title - complete the list of 10 teams, each of which will enter three cars.

"The entry selection process has been thought through very carefully and we have only selected teams that proved to be most successful in their categories," said series boss Bruno Michel.

"This was of course a very important step for GP3 and I am very pleased to welcome them. I sincerely believe that we enjoy a strong and extremely competitive line-up.

"The philosophy behind GP3 Series is very similar to what we've been doing in GP2 for the past five years in terms of car performance, costs control, show, safety and training to access to the following category, but of course adjusted to the level of this new series.

"Our goal is to reveal young drivers able to jump to the next step."

GP3 will race at all European grand prix events next season bar Monaco and Turkey, and also join GP2's single standalone meeting.
