Solberg chooses C4 for final rounds

Petter Solberg has confirmed he will contest the final two rounds of the 2009 World Rally Championship in a Citroen C4 WRC

Solberg tested a 2007 specification C4 last month and a Ford Focus RS WRC 08 last week. After days of deliberation, the 2003 champion has elected to continue his association with the French manufacturer. He will test the C4 for two days before the Catalunya Rally and Rally GB.

The Norwegian had spent the season so far in an outdated Citroen Xsara run by his own team, having lost his factory Subaru drive when the company pulled out of the WRC last winter.

"I am so happy, I can't tell you," Solberg told AUTOSPORT. "I am back in business. I have tested the C4 and I'm quite certain that this is the best car for me. Citroen gave me a good offer, and I believe that driving this car gives me a proper chance to fight for the podium."

Solberg's car will run in 2008 specification with updates to take it closer to the ultimate Citroen driven by Sebastien Loeb.

He added: "I got good offers from Citroen and Ford, but after evaluation I decided to go for Citroen and the C4 for the next two events. This will also give me valuable information regarding my plans for next year."

Despite his deal to drive a C4 on the next two rallies, Solberg insists no deals have been done for 2010.
