Williams interested in keeping Rosberg
Frank Williams has suggested his team would like to keep Nico Rosberg for the 2010 season following the German's strong showing this year
Rosberg has scored all of the team's points so far this year and is in fifth place in the standings, having finished in the points in the last seven races.
The German driver has insisted he remains open about his future, but made it clear he wants to be in a winning car soon.
Williams admits Rosberg is high on the team's list of choices for 2010, but he believes McLaren is also interested in him should the team decide to dump Heikki Kovalainen.
"He is very much on our list," Williams told AUTOSPORT. "I would have thought he must be on the McLaren list if they do drop Kovalainen, and I think Norbert [Haug] would love a German driver. We will see."
He added: "Nico is, on any three or five lap, he is the most exciting driver on the track. He digs himself out of some holes that we put him in some times - comes by three places up at the end of the first lap.
"He is single minded, chirpy, a little arrogant which is good - he is always very good with the promo people, never an objection, he is very good."
Williams said a decision on drivers is weeks away, although he conceded the market is very open, making things more difficult.
"It won't be months away, it will be the next few weeks where we get one position sorted out and hopefully soon after the second one.
"But I was reading the transcript of the FIA press conference, and agreed with what they were saying: it is a work in progress! I should have just said that - and put a sign around my chest this afternoon."
The team boss also believes test driver and GP2 championship leader Nico Hulkenberg is now ready to make his racing debut in F1.
"He probably is actually. But they have all got to learn. They all make mistakes. Lewis made fewer than anybody else, but someone like him comes down from heaven only once every 20 years."
