Collard leaves hospital after accident

Collard was tapped into a spin by James Nash while the pair disputed the lead of the final race of the day, and was then hit at high speed by Stephen Jelley as his car spun backwards onto the track at the quick Bombhole right-hander.

Despite being able to climb out of his Motorbase Performance BMW unaided, Collard began to feel sore in the medical centre and was admitted to Norwich and Norfolk hospital afterwards for a thorough checkover.

He was discharged shortly before midnight on Sunday and taken home by his team boss David Bartrum.

"I would sincerely like to thank the medical team at Snetterton who did a sterling job of looking after me following the incident and also the staff at Norwich and Norfolk hospital who were also first class," Collard.

"When I got out of the car I was a bit sore but the adrenaline was getting me through. It wasn't until I sat down in the medical centre that it really hit me and the pain was unbelievable. Thankfully I was really well looked after by all the medics and I think they checked absolutely every inch of me to make sure there was no major damage."

Motorbase intends to have Collard's car ready to race at the next round of the BTCC at Knockhill in just under two weeks time.
