Davison on pole again at Sandown
Holden Racing Team's Will Davison followed up yesterday's maiden V8 Supercar pole position with pole again today for the second race of the Norton 360 Sandown Challenge at Sandown Raceway
Davison almost matched his time from yesterday, but the battle behind him was much closer today. Second and third were the Jim Beam duo of James Courtney and Steven Johnson, Johnson just edging out Rick Kelly and Fabian Coulthard who were just a hundredth of a second slower than him.
Davison's team-mate Garth Tander qualified much higher than yesterday in sixth, but might have expected to do better with more new tyres than most of his rivals including his team-mate.
Right behind Tander were the Garry Rogers team-mates Lee Holdsworth and Michael Caruso with championship leader Jamie Whincup just a whisker slower than them. Greg Murphy completed the top ten.
Just missing the top ten were Todd Kelly and Craig Lowndes in 11th and 12th, while it was another disappointing qualifying for the Ford Performance Racing team, 15th and 16th fastest for Mark Wineterbottom and Steven Richards.
The Stone Brothers outfit also didn't have a great session, 18th for Alex Davison and Shane van Gisbergen a long way down the order in 24th place.
