125cc: Race red flagged at rainy Donington
The 125cc British Grand Prix has been red flagged because of rain at Donington Park
The event, which started in damp conditions, was interrupted after 14 of the originally scheduled 25 laps had been run, and it will be restarted at 13:25 local time for five laps.
The grid will reflect the positions the riders were in before the red flag, with Derbi's Pol Espargaro leading Nicolas Terol (Jack & Jones Aprilia), Marc Marquez (KTM), and the Aspar Aprilias of Bradley Smith and Julian Simon.
The interrupted race saw several crashes, with Simone Corsi (Fontana Aprilia) hitting Joan Olive's Derbi while overtaking him at the chicane on the first lap.
The Spaniard was immediately out, but not before some debris slipped underneath Andrea Iannone's Ongetta Aprilia and made him lose control, which caused more riders to drop the bike in the aftermath.
At the same corner of the same lap, but on a separate incident, Jonas Folger (Ongetta Aprilia) and Karel Pesek (Derbi) also crashed into each other.
Danny Webb retired his DeGraaf Aprilia at the end of the first lap, while Esteve Rabat's Blusens Aprilia broke down on lap 13.
Sergio Gadea crashed his Aspar Aprilia on the last full lap of the race, but his bike is too damaged to take the re-start.
Espargaro also dropped the bike on the last corner of the 15th lap, just before the red flag was shown. The Spaniard, however, had opened such a gap in the worsening conditions that he was able to rejoin while keeping the lead.
With the 125cc race ending later than expected, the 250cc race has also been re-scheduled to start at 14:00 local time instead of 13:45.
