Webber says no pressure to beat Vettel

Mark Webber says that he does not feel under any pressure to beat Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel despite having yet to win a race this year

Responding to questions about this weekend's German Grand Prix being "make or break" for his season, the Australian insists that he does not believe that is the case.

"There's no real pressure on me at all," said Webber. "The media have said that [this race is make or break], but I've never said that. Yes, to get a win under our belt would be great. But people say that I need to beat Sebastian - I've done that this year quite a few times. That's why we are so close in the championship.

"He's won two races and there is definitely some good momentum with him, but we are focusing on getting both cars to the chequered flag as quickly as possible. If that means that I'm outperformed by Sebastian or I outperform him, then we still go on to Budapest.

"It's like people saying why don't Brawn get behind Jenson" There's none of that being said at the moment. It's just that the media has got nothing else to talk about."

Webber added that he is confident he will win a race in the near future, and that the Nurburgring has been a strong track for him in the past.

"I want to get that win and it'll probably happen when you least expect it," he said. "Silverstone was one that a lot of people had money on me for and I finished second.

"Nurburgring is a good track for me. I finished on the podium in F3000 and I've had a lot of pretty good races here. If we have a clear run in qualifying, we know what we've got to do."

Webber, who is currently fourth in the drivers' championship, also believes that the conditions at this weekend could help Red Bull against Brawn, even though he believes there is "no real trend" to the relative competitiveness of the two teams in different temperatures.

"Probably a bit," he said of whether the conditions are to the team's advantage. "But people make a shopping list of excuses for why they aren't quick and we haven't made excuses when Brawn have kicked our ass.

"People might say that the temperature is not suiting them, so we'll have to wait to the next races on a hot track.

"Jenson was quick in Turkey, so there might be argument there, but Sebastian was very fast in the race at Bahrain. I was in traffic, but our car was quick. I believe there is no real trend to it."
