H21: Peugeot in control, Audi delayed

Alexander Wurz and Stephane Sarrazin have passed another hour at Le Mans maintaining the same 1m50s gap between the #9 and #8 Peugeots at the head of the field

The pair are now six laps clear at the front following a long delay for the #1 Audi. McNish brought the R15 back to the pits for a new steering wheel just one lap after a fuel stop, and returned to the pits again on the next lap. The car was wheeled into the garage and the team went to work on the rear end of the R15.

Rinaldo Capello replaced McNish in the driver's seat and returned to the track after a three-minute delay. He is back up to speed but is now just one lap ahead of the fourth-placed #007 Lola Aston Martin of Tomas Enge.

Nicolas Lapierre is holding fifth in the #11 ORECA, but is just one lap ahead of the #7 Peugeot, which has kept up its impressive pace throughout the race in recovery from its pitlane incident in the first hour.

Casper Elgaard is back in the Team Essex Porsche and still three laps clear of the Team Goh car.

The battle is raging at the front of the GT1 class as Johnny O'Connell and Marcel Fassler go head-to-head in the two works Chevrolet Corvettes.

Fassler chased down the #63 and although O'Connell was able to put up resistance for a couple of laps, he eventually had to surrender and Fassler has since pulled four seconds clear.

Mika Salo is still behind the wheel of the Risi Competizione Ferrari at the head of the GT2 class. The Finn is keeping a lead of two seconds over the BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari 430, with Matias Russo moving the AF Corse Ferrari into third place.
