Button not taking title as certain

Jenson Button is not letting himself believe that the world championship is a formality, despite his super successful start to the season

The Briton has won five of the first six races of the season and opened up a comfortable 16-point advantage in the championship standings over his team-mate Rubens Barrichello.

But although many rivals now believe there is little chance of overhauling Button, the man himself is still cautious about his prospects.

"It is not over until I have got more points than everyone else and they can't get more points than me," said Button. "And it is not over until the last race I suppose.

"I am looking forward to driving this track but we have not yet got anywhere near the balance that we want. Hopefully we will get the best out of it, and the Brawn is a quick car and should work here, but the championship won't be over here - there is a long way to go."

Button has not had an easy time in Turkey, having struggled to find a decent balance on his BGP 001.

"I've got very low grip and I am struggling with rear grip in some places, front grip in others," he said. "The car is hopping quite a lot in certain places on the circuit and the problem is that the oversteer I have got is very twitchy. It is twitchy oversteer, and you just don't know when it is going to come.

"Some of it is from the wind, but some of it is from the balance and we need to solve those issues. I am sure we can solve some of those and hopefully we will be back in the game, because at the moment I cannot do two laps the same."

When asked if he was particularly worried about a resurgent Ferrari, Button said: "We cannot do anything about the other teams; we can only do something about our car. It is about getting the best out of it.

"Hopefully we can do that and we will see where we stand in qualifying. But Ferraris are quick, McLarens and Red Bulls. There is no point worrying about it."
