Parente leads GP2 practice in Turkey
Alvaro Parente opened this weekend's GP2 Series round in Turkey by setting the fastest time in the first practice session
The Portuguese went to the top of the sheets with a 1m35.347s, putting him just over half a second clear of Ocean Racing Technology team-mate Karun Chandhok.
Championship leader Romain Grosjean was third despite finishing the session in the gravel after spearing off the track with two minutes remaining.
A few of the bigger names in the field found themselves in unfamiliar territory including Grosjean's Barwa Addax team-mate Vitaly Petrov, who ended the session in 15th, and Monaco sprint race winner Pastor Maldonado, who was 23rd.
