Mundill to run Pescarolo in ALMS
Star Mazda team Mundill Racing have acquired an ex-Rollcentre Racing Pescarolo-Judd LMP1 car and plan to enter it in the American Le Mans Series before the end of the season
Team owners David Mundy and Jeff Hill aim to develop drivers for their ALMS programme via the Star Mazda operation, and hope to contest a handful of races in late 2009 in preparation for a full 2010 season.
"From the first time we went to an ALMS race, Jeff and I wanted to explore racing one of the prototypes," said Mundy.
"Recently we agreed with Rollcentre Racing to acquire their Pescarolo-Judd car, and they have been wonderful to deal with. (Rollcentre boss) Martin Short has been straightforward and a gentleman."
Norwegian driver Anders Krohn, who has joined Mundill's Star Mazda team after dominating US Formula 2000 last year, said he already has an eye on graduating to the team's ALMS arm.
"My main focus this season will be on the Star Mazda Championship, but being able to help develop Mundill's American Le Mans Series programme provides me with the ideal situation of moving up inside the same team and working with the same great people," Krohn said.
