Sadler retains GEM seat

Following speculation linking AJ Allmendinger with a full-time drive in place of Sadler, the team confirmed that they have settled their dispute and Sadler will continue to pilot the No. 19 Dodge for a fourth consecutive season.

"We are a family," said the team's CEO Tom Reddin. "Sometimes in a family you have differences. We have resolved all differences. We are moving on and excited about heading to Daytona."

Sadler had signed a multi-year contract extension with GEM back in May of last year. The 33-year-old Virginian filed notice in a North Carolina court last week, intending to claim breach of contract, following mounting speculation that he was set to be replaced by Allmendinger.

The former Red Bull racer impressed during his five outings driving the No. 10 GEM car at the end of last season, finishing most races well ahead of Sadler. A full-time ride with the team looked in the cards for the Californian after he lost his to Scott Speed with Red Bull Racing.

However the former Champ Car race-winner is now only being considered for a fourth car, which would run a limited schedule of eight races this season, including the Budweiser Shootout.

"I want to drive," said Sadler. "I'm a racer and that's what I do. We are all on the same page now and I think you will see that show on the track."

"We are approaching 2009 thinking we can make the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Everyone is very positive on this team. With the personnel and resources, I think all of us expect to make the Chase in 2009. That's our goal."

Sadler's car will be part of the newly formed organisation from the merger of GEM and Petty Enterprises.
