Jani extends Sepang pole streak

Neel Jani will start Sunday's A1GP sprint race from pole position after scoring his sixth consecutive Sepang pole position in the series

Team Switzerland's driver is unbeaten in qualifying at the Malaysian circuit since the inaugural A1GP season in 2005 and produced an incredible lap to put the rest of the field into the shade by nearly six tenths of a second.

Just seconds before Jani's lap, Earl Bamber had put Team New Zealand to the top of the timesheet with what was easily the quickest lap of the weekend so far, but it wasn't enough to keep Jani at bay.

Team France's Loic Duval also bettered Bamber's time and will line up alongside Jani on the front row tomorrow morning.

Filipe Albuquerque (Portugal) will share the second row of the grid with Bamber, while Italy and Great Britain complete the top six.

Home driver Fairuz Fauzy (Malaysia) could only manage 13th place after failing to get a lap in during the first segment of the session. He was out on track when Team Korea's car stopped and the session was red flagged.
