Ireland and Britain take a pole each
Ireland and Great Britain took a pole position each in today's qualifying for this weekend's A1GP rounds at Chengdu, China
Adam Carroll will start the sprint race from the front after scoring Team Ireland's first ever A1GP pole, and he followed it up with another front row spot in the session for the feature race.
Danny Watts secured pole position on his race debut for Britain in the feature race session - denying Carroll his second pole of the day by just 0.031s - after having qualified fourth himself in the earlier sprint session.
Robert Doornbos made a fantastic start to his A1GP career by putting Team Netherlands alongside Ireland on the front row for the sprint race, just 0.069s behind Carroll, with reigning champions Switzerland in fourth.
The other high-profile series debutant, Team USA's Marco Andretti, qualified 16th for the sprint race and 11th for the feature.
Filipe Albuquerque posted a great lap in the dying seconds of the final session to earn third place for the feature race, alongside Neel Jani in fourth.
Clivio Piccione managed two top tens in only Team Monaco's second outing, qualifying tenth for the sprint and seventh for the feature.
Current joint championship leaders Malaysia and France took a sixth each, France in the sprint and Malaysia in the feature, but were only 12th and 14th respectively in the other sessions.
