No works Citroen for Ogier

Citroen team principal Olivier Quesnel has confirmed that recently-crowned Junior World Rally Champion Sebastien Ogier will not join his factory team next season

Quesnel had said that he was looking for funding for Ogier and was confident he would tackle at least six rounds of the WRC in a C4 WRC next season.

But despite recent speculation that he will join Sebastien Loeb and Dani Sordo in the Red Bull-backed works team, Quesnel says that will not be the case in 2009.

"It will be a private car for Sebastien," said Quesnel. "The M1 (works team line-up) is finished, it stays the same. At the moment, it's six (rounds) for Seb, but if money comes then anything is possible."

Quesnel also moved to scotch rumours that Conrad Rautenbach had signed to drive for Citroen's Manufacturer Two, PH-Sport-run team.

"The internet and some websites are like this, some story starts and it goes on and on. It's not true," he said. "We said we wanted two cars in the M2 team and we would like Conrad to stay. We have a contract, but it's not signed.

"Apart from Conrad, we have heard about Andreas Mikkelsen and Urmo Aava, but nothing is signed yet."

Rautenbach admitted he was hoping to make a decision on where he would drive next season soon. Like Mikkelsen, the reigning FIA African Rally Champion is currently linked to a third seat at Subaru World Rally Team.

In the meantime, Ogier will contest his first rally since becoming Junior World Rally Champion when he drives a Citroen C2-R2 Max on the Rallye du Condroz in Belgium this weekend.
