Farfus stays on top in practice two

Augusto Farfus retained his place at the top of the timesheets in the final World Touring Car Championship practice session before qualifying at Okayama, although there were a few surprises behind him as new tyres came into play

Farfus produced a best time of 1:38.290 in his Schnitzer BMW, 0.3 seconds faster than Tom Coronel in the petrol-powered SUNRED Engineering SEAT.

Takayuki Aoki pleased the home crowd by bolting on some fresh Yokohamas and going third-quickest in his Wiechers-Sport BMW, putting him just ahead of Hungarian driver Norbert Michelisz in another SUNRED Leon.

Jorg Muller and Alessandro Zanardi were fifth and sixth, leaving SEAT's Gabriele Tarquini as the highest-placed non-BMW works driver in seventh, one place ahead of teammate Rickard Rydell.

James Thompson was ninth in the N.Technology Honda with Independent BMW driver Sergio Hernandez completing the top 10 despite bringing out the session's only red flag when he beached himself in the gravel after 15 minutes.

World champion Andy Priaulx finished 12th behind the Lada of Jaap van Lagen, while Rob Huff was the quickest of the Chevrolet line-up in 13th. Current points leader Yvan Muller ended the session 19th fastest.
