2009 calendar confirmed

The 2009 World Touring Car Championship calendar has been announced, with two additions to the schedule confirmed

The street circuit event at Marrakesh in Morocco is scheduled for May 3, although the circuit still needs to be homologated by the FIA. The other change is the Portuguese round of the WTCC's return to Porto after one year at Estoril.

There is no place in the schedule for Imola, despite the championship holding the first international races at the rebuilt circuit last month.

Although the Oschersleben round is provisionally scheduled for August 30, series bosses are working with the circuit to move the event back one week to avoid a date clash with the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps.

The season will once again kick off at Curitiba in March and end at Macau in November.

March 8 - Curitiba (Brazil)
March 22 - Puebla (Mexico)
May 3 - Marrakesh (Morocco)
May 17 - Pau (France)
May 31 - Valencia (Spain)
June 21 - Brno (Czech Republic)
July 5 - Porto (Portugal)
July 19 - Brands Hatch (UK)
August 30 - Oschersleben (Germany)
October 4 - Monza (Italy)
October 25 - Okayama (Japan)
November 22 - Macau (Macau)
