Patrick, Andretti to race for Team USA
IndyCar racers Danica Patrick and Marco Andretti will both race Team USA's A1GP car this season
The pair's IndyCar team, Andretti Green Racing, have taken over the Team USA car this year and team boss Michael Andretti is eager to give both drivers more experience on road courses ahead of next year's IRL series, which is scheduled to feature at least nine road or street circuits.
Formula 3 veteran Charlie Kimball is in the USA car for the opening round of the season at Zandvoort this weekend, but Andretti says it is likely that his son Marco will make his debut at the next round in China.
"This series is the opposite of the IndyCar Series for us, so it really works schedule-wise," said Michael. "There's not a lot of testing in the US, so we feel this is a good way of getting road racing miles for Marco and Danica.
"There are a lot of factors to take into consideration with the schedules, so I don't know who is going to race in China. It's probably Marco, but I'm not 100 per cent sure.
"One of the problems is that they both said they want to do all the races. I think that's the unique part of the series, the patriotic side. I think it's so cool to be able to carry your colours and they are both very excited about that."
