Mallya: Indian track will be ready in 2010

Force India boss Vijay Mallya believes the new Formula One track in Delhi will be ready in time for 2010, despite suggestions that the race could be delayed until 2011

F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone said at Singapore on Friday that he wanted India's first Grand Prix to be delayed for 12 months from its originally planned debut of 2010.

With work on the new track due to begin in the next few weeks, Mallya says that his country will have no choice but to accept Ecclestone's wishes if he wants it put back.

"From my information, even though I am not building the track, the track will be ready for 2010," Mallya told autosport.com. "But as you know the F1 schedule is decided by Bernie and I guess everyone has to accept what Bernie decides.

"The land has been acquired and there is the usual process of preparing the ground for building, but my information is that it will be ready for 2010.

"But if he has decided that there are other races that need to be pursued and there are other races he wants for 2010, then I guess that is it, isn't it?"
