Zuber bemused by exclusion

GP2 racer Andi Zuber has voiced his frustration at losing his third position in yesterday's feature race at Spa-Francorchamps due to a minor technical infringement

Zuber's Piquet Sports car was excluded when a small repair was found to have been made to the nosecone of his Dallara prior to Saturday's race.

A statement from the team read: "Piquet Sports is very disappointed with the events that led to the exclusion. The reason for this is a very small repair to the tip of the nose, a part that in our understanding is not structural and could be repaired.

"The part in question is very weak, thin as a sheet of paper, and the damage/repair questioned by the stewards was caused by an impact in the paddock when our mechanics were pushing the car and it incidentally touched the back of one of our pit trolleys.

"As we believe, many other cars have similar repairs and if all the cars were checked, a lot of competitors would be disqualified if the understanding of the stewards were applied."

Zuber himself said: "I think the stewards hate my name. They throw me out at every opportunity. They have even put me 26th on the grid and there is only 25 cars!"

Zuber is indeed 26th on the grid, despite the fact Giorgio Pantano has been excluded from the meeting.
