Alonso: No fixed date to decide future

Double world champion Fernando Alonso says there will be no announcement about his plans at next weekend's Italian Grand Prix

Alonso, who is free to leave Renault at the end of this season, has been widely linked with a future move to Ferrari or Honda, and reports in the Italian media suggested he would reveal details of his future at Monza.

However, Alonso insists that no decision has yet been made on who he will drive for in 2009.

"No," said Alonso when asked by autosport.com whether there would be an announcement about his future at Monza. "Soon I will decide what I do next year, but there is not a fixed day."

Alonso briefly spoke to Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo at last week's Monza test, but insisted that there conversation extended to nothing more than an exchange of pleasantries.

"I was in my helmet and going into the car so we spoke for five seconds," said Alonso. "How are you? OK. How are you? OK. And nothing more!"

Honda are known to be chasing the Spaniard's services for 2009, while he has been widely linked with a move to Ferrari either in 2009 or 2010, depending on the future of current world champion Kimi Raikkonen.
