Tappy replaced by Nocera at RC
Reigning Formula Renault UK champion Duncan Tappy has been forced to stand down from RC Motorsport's Formula Renault 3.5 team following financial difficulties
RC have drafted in Italian F3 champion Paulo Nocera for the remainder of the season.
Nocera has been on the sidelines since being replaced at GP2 team BCN by Adrian Valles. The 23-year-old tested at Vallelunga on Monday in preparation for this weekend's meeting at the Nurburgring, setting a best time of 1:24.01.
Team manager Cristiano Giardina commented: "Paolo is not experienced in this car so we are not expecting him to be at the front. He was excellent in Vallelunga, half a second quicker than Prema's Alvaro Barba. But it is a test at Vallelunga not a qualifying session and, of course, I don't know what programme Prema were running."
Tappy had made a mid-season step-up to the category, finishing an excellent sixth at the last round at the Hungaroring. The West Ewell driver is expected to make an imminent return to racing.
Meanwhile, KTR are set to run just a single car for debutant Siso Cunill at the Nurburgring. The Belgian team were left searching for two drivers after Daniil Move and Guillaume Moreau left the team after Hungary. Team boss Kurt Mollekens had set a cut-off point of mid-day on Wednesday to finalise a replacement driver for this weekend's meeting.
KTR are understood to be close to reaching an agreement with a second driver to participate in the final three races of the season at Le Mans, Estoril and Barcelona.
