Kovalainen quickest on final day at Jerez
Heikki Kovalainen ended this week's test at Jerez in Spain with the fastest time on Friday, as his McLaren team continued evaluation of the nose horn wings that appeared for the first time
The Finn ran the nose wings for most of the day, but set his best time of 1:18.385 during one of the runs he completed without them - albeit in the cooler morning conditions.
His McLaren team remain undecided on if the wings will be used for next weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.
Sebastien Bourdais kept up the strong week-long pace of Red Bull machinery with the second fastest time in his Scuderia Toro Rosso, with his fastest lap being set on slick tyres.
David Coulthard was third fastest for Red Bull Racing, ahead of Renault test driver Romain Grosjean and Felipe Massa in the Ferrari - which ran with a shark fin engine cover in the late afternoon.
Kazuki Nakajima was sixth fastest for Williams, just ahead of Nick Heidfeld in the BMW Sauber, the German causing one of the three red flags of the day when he stopped just before midday at the chicane.
The other red flags were caused by Toyota test driver Kamui Kobayashi, who went off into the gravel at the final corner in the first hour of the test, and then later stopped on the back straight just minutes before the end of the scheduled time.
