Kyalami to host South African round

The Durban street track hosted rounds in each of the first three seasons of the championship, but the former Grand Prix facility at Kyalami, near Johannesburg will take over in 2009.

A1GP Team South Africa seat holder Tokyo Sexwale is pleased to see the series switch to race in the Gauteng province.

"The series is characterised by fast cars, high octane action, and beautiful people - all of which characterise Gauteng.

"I'm proud of Team South Africa and we're preparing to make then nation proud, in the series as a whole and also when the race comes to our shores in February."

A1GP CEO Pete da Silva added: "The series is going from strength to strength. We have made a number of exciting announcements for the new season and Gauteng is the economic powerhouse of the country, and also the home of competitive sport.

"The people of South Africa, and more especially Gauteng, can look forward to an event like no other. It will be a feast for the senses."
