Massa: No room for errors in the race

Felipe Massa says Ferrari will have to do everything right in tomorrow's German Grand Prix in order to have a shot at winning

The Brazilian was beaten to pole position by McLaren's Lewis Hamilton, who finished less than two tenths of a second ahead of the Ferrari driver.

Massa, aiming to fight back after a disastrous British Grand Prix, is expecting another very close fight in the race, and he reckons errors will be costly.

"It was tough for sure, very tight," said Massa. "I don't know how much fuel everyone has but if you look at the (testing) session last week it was very tight in terms of laptimes, this morning as well.

"I think it is pretty competitive between Ferrari and McLaren. The race tomorrow will be a big competition between all four cars. For sure that is very exciting. We need to do everything right tomorrow in the race."

The Ferrari driver played down suggestions that his performance today was a recovery from his poor showing in Britain, where he spun five times in the wet.

"I think it is not really a recovery," he added. "I know I am quick and all my career I was quick in the wet, even in karts in the wet I won.

"To be honest I don't believe what people say that I am not good in the wet. I was always good in the wet and didn't forget how to drive.

"I had a bad weekend in Silverstone, not just the race, the whole weekend was bad - what we showed here was not a recovery, but our target is be competitive and it is normal."
