Jackson wins Snetterton race three
Mat Jackson won the final British Touring Car Championship race of the day at Snetterton, taking his second victory of the season in the process
BMW Dealer UK driver Jackson, whose weekend began with a 6g crash into the Coram tyre wall in practice and who had only amassed four points from the event prior to the final race, leapt into the lead from a front row start, and kept his rivals at bay for all 18 laps.
Another to make a brilliant start was Steven Kane, and after poleman Gordon Shedden (Halfords Honda) went off at Sear trying to pass him, the Northern Irishman was able to hold off Fabrizio Giovanardi's Vauxhall to take his first BTCC podium in second and the best ever finish for the Motorbase BMW team.
Giovanardi's result saw him increase his championship lead to 34 points over teammate Matt Neal, who finished fourth.
Tom Onslow-Cole (Vauxhall) and Tom Chilton (Halfords Honda) were fifth and seventh, sandwiching Colin Turkington's Team RAC BMW, after the pair started 14th and 15th on the grid.
SEAT's Jason Plato, who won both of the first two races of the day in dominant style, failed to finish. He was black-flagged for diesel smoke pouring out of his Leon TDI at mid-distance.
