Button not expecting points in Germany

Jenson Button says it will be difficult for his Honda team to score points at the German Grand Prix, despite Rubens Barrichello's podium finish at Silverstone

The Brazilian took advantage of the poor conditions at Silverstone to give his team their first podium since 2006.

But Button is aware that Honda's pace in the dry is not strong enough to fight for points if their rivals don't hit trouble.

"You've got to be positive. We just have to try to get the best out of the car and if we do so, then we have to hope that other people don't get the best out of their cars," Button told autosport.com during testing at Hockenheim.

"It's such a tight pack in the middle in Formula One at the moment, that if the Red Bulls get it right and the Williams get it right, you don't really have a chance to score points.

"But if they are not finding the best balance there might be a possibility. If it's wet anything can happen, but if it's dry it will be difficult to score points."

Button also downplayed his performance on the final day of testing at Hockenheim, where the Briton finished second behind the Ferrari of Felipe Massa.

"I don't know what people are doing fuel wise. You can never tell much from testing. We are happy with what we did, but we are not a tenth off the Ferrari. But I'm happy with the work that we did."
