H13: Capello takes the lead for Audi
Dindo Capello has taken the lead for Audi after chasing down and passing Jacques Villeneuve's No.7 Peugeot
Capello was circulating up to seven seconds per lap quicker than and took over the lead when all three Peugeots lost time in their scheduled pit stops when they had to be pulled into the garage so the team could attend to apparent overheating problems.
Villeneuve rejoined around five seconds behind the No.2 Audi R10.
Christian Klien was catching them both in the No.9 Peugeot, and had the gap down to around 90 seconds, but also lost time in his pit stop with steam spewing out of the sidepods.
Pedro Lamy had already called in with the same problem as he handed over to Stephane Sarrazin, and the No.9 car, but the problem didn't slow down the No.8 car as Sarrazin was absolutely flying when he rejoined, lapping in the 3:23s.
Peter Van Merksteijn's position at the head of the LMP2 class was strengthened when Casper Elgaard picked up a misfire in the Team Essex Porsche RS Spyder. He had to pit twice in half an hour as the team attempted to fix the problem, but is lapping quicker than the Van Merksteijn car when on track.
Aston Martin still lead Corvette in GT1, with David Brabham still around 40 seconds ahead of Johnny O'Connell, while Risi Competizione are still dominant in GT2.
