Logano on Nationwide pole again
Joe Gibbs Racing development driver Joey Logano continued to impress with a rapid start to his Nationwide Series campaign, by claiming his second pole in three races on Saturday at Kentucky Speedway
The 18-year-old set a fastest lap of 30.760 seconds at an average speed of 175.558 mph, beating Nationwide Series veteran Jason Keller to pole position for Saturday night's Meijer 300 at the mile-and-a-half oval.
"This is a really wide race track and a fast one. I think it's going to be a lot of fun and I'm really looking forward to seeing how it races, since I've only just tested there before," said Logano, who has tested Cup cars for JGR at the venue in the past.
Australian Marcos Ambrose and David Stremme will start from the second row of the grid, followed by Brad Coleman and Chip Ganassi Racing's Bryan Clauson.
Logano's JGR teammate for this weekend, Sprint Cup Series points' leader Kyle Busch, will start the race from the back of the grid, although Jeremy Clements qualified his car in an encouraging seventh place.
Only five Cup drivers have made the trip from Michigan to Kentucky to compete in round sixteen of the series, including Nationwide Series point's leader Clint Bowyer.
