Citroen boss plays down quit threat

Citroen team principal Olivier Quesnel has confirmed the French manufacturer will remain in the World Rally Championship until the end of next season

At the end of Friday's opening leg, Quesnel raised the possibility of Citroen walking away from the sport after Ford's tactical approach to stage nine left his lead driver Sebastien Loeb in the difficult position of running first on the road through today's second leg.

Quesnel has subsequently clarified Citroen's position, saying: "I am angry with the regulation which has allowed this happen. I was last night and I am still today. This has not changed. I am not angry at Ford. Ford has used this regulation, like the regulation is there to be used."

He added that despite their displeasure at yesterday's events, Citroen would definitely stay in the sport through 2009.

""I do not have the power to say: 'Okay, now Citroen will stop,'" Quesnel said.

"We will be here for the end of this season and next year. After that, we cannot say what we will be doing."
