Theissen: Drivers will remain equal

After taking the championship lead thanks to his Canadian Grand Prix win, Kubica called on the team to get fully behind his title bid.

"We are leading the drivers' championship, so I hope the team will give me 100 per cent support to try to maybe defend it until the last race," he said on Sunday.

But Theissen said he was not intending to ask Nick Heidfeld to support Kubica at this stage.

"For the coming races I think we won't switch our strategy," he told autosport.com.

"Both drivers get equal treatment in terms of car, in terms of the team. Then we look at what they can do in qualifying and then on that basis we decide on the race strategy."

He does not feel that the topic of team orders or driver priority is an issue at this point.

"Let's talk about it if and when the situation arises. It would be speculation," he said.

"But even then you have to deal with it on a race-by-race basis. If one driver fails in qualifying then there is no point in keeping the other one behind."

Theissen also denied that the victory would make a difference to Kubica's approach or performance in the following races, as he believes the Pole was already operating at the maximum.

"It was clear for him that he would win a race," said Theissen. "Now it has happened, so it carries on."
