Capirossi unlikely to race at Donington

Loris Capirossi is unlikely to race in the British Grand Prix next week following his crash during the Barcelona race last Sunday

The Rizla Suzuki rider injured his hand in a crash with Alex de Angelis at the Catalan circuit when the duo tangled on lap 11.

Capirossi suffered a dislocated fracture of the fifth right metacarpus, which is used to brake and accelerate.

Suzuki team manager Paul Denning said after the post-race test in Spain that the Italian rider is likely to miss the Donington race and even the Dutch Grand Prix.

"Loris's break is quite a complicated one; it's a dislocated fracture of his fifth right metacarpus, which is used a lot in braking and throttle control," Dennis told the official MotoGP website.

"Loris as always wants to ride, but at the moment is looking difficult for him to ride at Donington and perhaps Assen.

"It will be assessed if the bone will heal correctly, or if an operation is possible."

Tester Nobuatsu Aoki replaced Capirossi during the two-day test in Barcelona.
