Toseland aims for better in home race
James Toseland was satisfied to recover to sixth place at Catalunya after losing ground early on, but the Tech 3 rider admitted that he now feels he should be finishing higher up the order
He is therefore determined to take his first MotoGP podium on home ground at Donington Park in a fortnight.
World Superbike convert Toseland has now taken four sixth places in his first seven MotoGP starts, but has had to learn many of the tracks in the first part of the season.
He hopes his familiarity with Donington will allow him to maximise his Tech 3 Yamaha's potential in the next round.
"I can't wait to get to Donington," Toseland told BBC television after the Catalunya race.
"It's hard work on these new tracks. To qualify and finish sixth is a good show, but I really want to get closer to the front.
"I'm going to be pushing so hard (in Britain) because I really want a podium. This bike's capable of it so we're going to work hard and try and get it."
Toseland lost places early in the race while adjusting to a new set-up, and then when he was wrong-footed as Valentino Rossi overtook him.
But he recovered to fight to the front of a large dice for sixth place.
"We had a different setting on the bike and it took a couple of laps to get used to," Toseland explained.
"I'd just got into a rhythm, and then Valentino came past. I had to go straight on, there was no way of turning as Valentino came through.
"It was a fair pass, but unfortunately he passed me late so I couldn't turn in. I was pleased to get back up to sixth."
