Dixon leads second practice

Scott Dixon was fastest in the final practice session before qualifying at the Milwaukee Mile

Fresh from his Indianapolis 500 win a week ago, the Ganassi driver lapped in 21.9975 seconds, which was 0.0483 seconds quicker than Helio Castroneves (Penske) managed when topping the second part of the split session.

Marco Andretti completed the top three for Andretti Green.

The rookies and new teams again showed strong form, with Will Power taking fourth for KV Racing, and EJ Viso (HVM), Bruno Junqueira (Dale Coyne Racing) and Enrique Bernoldi (Conquest Racing) claiming sixth, seventh and ninth places respectively.

Andretti Green's Tony Kanaan and Dixon's Ganassi teammate Dan Wheldon got amongst them in fifth and eighth.

Morning pace-setter Graham Rahal only managed 19th place in final practice, although the picture was blurred slightly as some teams concentrated on race preparations while others practiced for qualifying.

AJ Foyt IV had the only incident of the session when he brushed the wall during the first half-hour and bent the suspension on his Vision Racing Dallara-Honda.

Roth Racing's John Andretti was able to rejoin for a handful of laps following his minor crash this morning, but his teammate Marty Roth was unable to participate due to the damage sustained in his much heavier impact during the first session.
