Edwards angry about Melandri blocking

Colin Edwards hit out at Marco Melandri after encountering the Ducati rider while on a flying lap at the end of French Grand Prix qualifying

Tech 3 Yamaha rider Edwards had been on pole for much of the session only to be beaten by Honda's Dani Pedrosa in the final minute.

Edwards felt that the incident with Melandri then cost him a chance to improve on his own last lap

"I thought I had a decent lap going on the last lap and then Melandri got in the way," Edwards told Italia1 television.

"There are too many guys sitting there just farting around. We're out there risking ourselves to the limit, and you've got some jack-ass sitting there in the middle of the track.

"I like Melandri, we get along good, but just look around, you know? Especially in the last minute of qualifying. That's just stupid."

But despite his frustration at being blocked, Edwards was still content with second on the grid and very optimistic about the race.

"I feel good," he said in the post-qualifying press conference. "Yesterday we had a little problem in the morning, but my team got it sorted out.

"The Yamaha has worked fantastically. It had a little bit of nervousness yesterday, but we seem to have fixed that and now it's just on rails. Michelin came up with the good stuff this time, so I'm really happy."
