Peugeot fastest in final practice

Peugeot remained on top of the pile in the final free practice session for round three of the LMS at Spa-Francorchamps on Saturday

The No 8. 908 Hdi FAP dipped below the two-minute mark for the first time this weekend, as the car shared by Stephane Sarrazin, Pedro Lamy and Alexander Wurz went quickest of all ahead of the two Audi R10s.

Allan McNish and Rinaldo Capello's German diesel was a second off the best time, which was a 1:58.180, while the sister Audi of Alex Premat and Mike Rockenfeller was third.

Fourth was the continually impressive Charouz Racing Systems Lola Aston Martin, while the second Peugeot, which features Jacques Villeneuve among its line-up, was only fifth.

Olivier Panis and Nicolas Lapierre were sixth quickest in the Oreca Courage.

Peter van Merksteijn and Jos Verstappen set the fastest time in LMP2 with their Porsche RS Spyder, while in GT1 the Modena Aston Martin of Antonio Garcia and Tomas Enge was quickest.

Virgo Motorsport's Robert Bell and Gianmaria Bruni led the pack in GT2.

The session was stopped twice. The red flags came out after ten minutes when Jan-Dirk Leuders crashed his Radical at Turn 9.

Then, after 20 minutes it was halted again, when the Salini Zytek spun into the barriers at Eau Rouge. Neither driver was hurt.
