Summerton scores USA's maiden win

Jonathan Summerton took Team USA's first ever A1GP win in superb fashion in the Shanghai feature race today

Summerton beat pole sitter Neel Jani into Turn 1 and didn't look back. By the chequered flag he was almost 10 seconds to the good.

Jani's hopes of wrapping up the title disappeared along with second gear in the Team Switzerland car. He managed to bring the car home in fifth, but with Jonny Reid one place ahead of him in fourth, Team New Zealand still has a mathematical hope of winning the championship at Brands Hatch.

Filipe Albuquerque wrapped up an excellent weekend for Team Portugal with second place, while Adam Carroll continued Team Ireland's recent good form with third.

Alex Yoong was a distant sixth, while Narain Karthikeyan held off a train of cars to claim seventh. The first of these was Franck Montagny (France), while Robbie Kerr (GB) and Michael Ammermuller (Germany) rounded out the points finishers.
