Garcia confirms World Series return

Former GP2 racer Borja Garcia will return to the World Series by Renault this season with Italian squad RC Motorsport

The 25-year-old Spaniard, who finished 10th in the GP2 standings last season, will return to the team and the championship in which he finished runner-up to Alx Danielsson in 2006.

Garcia was unable to raise the sponsorship to continue in GP2 but set the quickest time in the World Series test at Valenca two weeks ago. He confirmed his deal for the season this week and believes a shot at the World Series title is his next best option after GP2.

"This is a crucial stage in my career and this is undoubtedly the best decision for my future," he said.

"I believe we can win the title this year. The last test at Valencia was very constructive and we were quickest, I can't wait for the next test at Barcelona so we can continue where we left off."

RC Motorsport co-owner Carlo Migliavaca added: "We're delighted to have Borja back because we're well aware of what he's capable of. He's a brilliant racing driver with a winning mentality."

Fellow Spaniard Aleix Alcaraz will join Garcia at the team for this season, which begins at Monza on April 26-27.
