Coulthard to miss second practice

Red Bull Racing have pulled David Coulthard out of second practice for the Malaysian Grand Prix in the wake of his accident this morning

The Briton suffered major suspension damage when his car ran over a kerb after suffering some kind of car failure at Turn 13.

The damage was sufficient to require extensive repairs to the car, and the team have decided that until they get to the bottom of what went wrong they will not run again.

With the team still working on Coulthard's car in the pits as second practice got underway, a statement issued by Red Bull Racing said: "During David Coulthard's accident in this morning's first practice session, his RB4 sustained substantial peripheral damage.

"With safety the team's primary concern as always, it has been decided that David will not run in this afternoon's session. This will allow the team sufficient time to investigate the causes of the incident and to ensure that the car is fully and properly repaired prior to tomorrow's final free practice session."

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner said this morning that he was not unduly worried by the two spectacular suspension breakages Coulthard has suffered in the last two events.
