South Africa's Zaugg takes Sprint pole

A last-minute flier from Adrian Zaugg grabbed pole position for South Africa for Sunday's A1GP sprint race at Mexico City

Zaugg snatched the top spot in the second session from New Zealand's Jonny Reid, who had topped the opening period.

Reid lapped in 1:20.397, a couple of tenths clear of Zaugg, in the first session but Zaugg hit back in session two with a lap of 1:20.315.

Team USA will start third after Jonathan Summerton drastically improved his time in the second session to a 1:20.426, a tenth clear of Switzerland's Neel Jani, who failed to improve on his second run by a matter of hundredths.

Last year's winner here Oliver Jarvis was pleased to salvage fifth place in the second session after a scrappy first effort had left him down in seventh for Team GBR. He just pipped Canada's Robert Wickens by a couple of hundredths.

Adam Carroll will start seventh for Ireland, ahead of Bruno Junqueira (Brazil), Felipe Albuquerque (a great rearguard action after Team Portugal had to repair his car following a practice crash this morning) and practice pacesetter Edoardo Piscopo (Italy).
